Fifteen years of finding the right fit

The college recruiting process can overwhelm even the most talented high school athletes and their families. Since 2012, Nick Kourtesis has been helping them through it. What started as one DC-area consulting firm has grown into two sports businesses, and both now operate out of Venture X Fairfax.

Nick joined Venture X on July 1, 2024, after two years at Office Evolution in Fairfax.

Two companies, one mission: athletes first

Mid Atlantic Sports Consultants, founded in 2012, is now entering its 15th year. The firm works side by side with high school athletes and their families to find a college that fits the student both academically and athletically. That family-centered approach has delivered a 97% success rate to date.

Trident Sports Agency launched in fall 2024 and takes the work to the professional level. The agency represents professional soccer players and coaches around the world.

A workspace that keeps pace with growth

As the client list grew, so did the need for room to bring on staff. Nick has moved into a larger office each time the business outgrew its space. Today the setup at Venture X Fairfax includes:

• A private office that serves as home base for both companies.
• An additional membership for interns, so the growing team has its own place to work.
• The conference room, used to meet with high school, college and professional athletes.
• Shared resources like high-speed internet, the copier and other on-site amenities.

Having a polished, professional setting matters when the clients range from high school families to pro athletes and VIP guests.

More than an office

The Venture X team keeps the calendar full, too, with a March Madness pool, special food days and other events throughout the year. There’s always something to look forward to, and Nick enjoys every day in the space.

Growth, recognition and what’s next

Since joining Venture X, both the college recruiting business and the professional representation side have grown tremendously. Having a dependable office means important projects get done and high-profile client meetings happen in the right setting.

The businesses have also been named among the best new businesses in the DC area by several publications. Nick counts that recognition among the proudest milestones, along with knowing clients always have a professional place to meet.

Looking ahead, the plan is to stay at Venture X Fairfax, keep growing both companies and continue building friendships and business relationships in the community.
