Venture X’s flexible coworking office space allows companies to establish their presence with office space that works for them but without the commitment or hassle of leasing an office and setting it up to be functional (i.e., buying furniture, printers, maintenance, etc.). Additionally, membership at Venture X comes with perks that any business owner or employee would appreciate. Entrepreneurs, startups, freelancers as well as small- and medium-sized businesses have found that they love working at Venture X.
Eli Goins, a Public Insurance Adjuster with Ocean Point Claims Company works from Venture X Palm Beach Gardens – City Centre. Eli and the other adjusters assist homeowners and business owners with property damage insurance claims, ensuring that the insurance company pays the insured the maximum amount possible.
We asked Eli some questions to get to know him a little better and learn about the journey he’s been on, career-wise.
What made you want to get involved in this line of work?
I became an Insurance Adjuster for the insurance companies in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina made landfall in South Florida prior to ravishing New Orleans. I continued learning how the insurance companies operate from within until I flipped my license in order to assist policyholders with the inside knowledge that I had gained. This gives our clients an upper hand to maximize their settlements. I became a Public Adjuster because I couldn’t sleep at night, underpaying and/or denying policyholders for their losses.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping people. 100%, this is no doubt the most rewarding aspect of my job. Oftentimes, people have no idea that help (aside from hiring an attorney) exists. Winning, on average, in upwards 700% more than our clients would have received without representation is a great feeling every time I hand a client a check.
What’s the biggest challenge that you have faced in business and how did you overcome it?
Being a partner in my family’s Public Adjusting firm and breaking away to start Ocean Point from scratch, unexpectedly, was certainly challenging. Ocean Point has already exceeded expectations for growth in record time for a firm like ours. Our presence online, again in record time, was another huge challenge. Google is our main source of leads and we were able to rank very high in Google search, months/years ahead of the average new business.
What business tips would you like to share with others?
Be positive. Network, network, network. Never take no for an answer. Always remember, when you feel like you have hit a wall – the end isn’t really in front of you. Be a problem solver. Struggles are simply another challenge that you can learn from. Never stop learning. Debt – If you’re going to take on debt after starting a new business, only go into debt marketing, at first.
What has been your favorite part about working at Venture X?
The amazing spirit of entrepreneurship here! When my clients come in, they are always very impressed with the design of the facility and the smiling faces greeting them at the door! I became a member in January of 2019. I believe this location had been open for 2 months at that time.
A Personal Look at Eli Goins
Eli had this to say when we asked him about his greatest inspiration, “In my line of work, I am blessed with the relationships that I have forged, from very experienced mediators, judges, attorneys, and other industry experts. Learning from these professionals is very inspiring. They also keep me positive, confirming that I am headed down the right track with regard to growing Ocean Point. Secondly, Venture X has been extremely inspiring. The owners and staff at this location are beyond helpful and positive in everything they do. Being surrounded by the entrepreneurship that resonates through these halls is like a drug! Venture X has played a huge role in the development of Ocean Point in its journey of growth.”
In his spare time, we learned that Eli enjoys spending time with his family but he’s also a weather nerd. He shared, “I grew up storm chasing in Oklahoma and Kansas . . . so if I am not working and bad weather is near, you can find me there.” We think this go-getter attitude contributes to his business success as well. And we also learned that Eli is a photographer and a true camera nut. He shoots portraits, headshots, weddings, and large events from time to time. He says, “Not a lot of people know this about me, it isn’t advertised.” Eli has even worked behind the scenes on TV shows for the Discovery Channel and the Travel Channel.
