Christmas lights are being strung around palm trees in Southwest Florida already, but at Venture X Naples, we’re pacing ourselves to appreciate all we have to be thankful for this month.
Getting wrapped up in the bustle between Halloween and New Year’s Day, November oftentimes seems like a blur with the focus narrowing on cooking a flawless dinner that guests will talk about for months. While Thanksgiving dinner is definitely the cherry on the cake, it’s the people around us that make the holiday worth celebrating. It’s the other members in our shared space, it’s the friendly smiles we see at checkout aisles, it’s the clean bill of health from the doctor and the hundreds of other reasons we have to feel thankful this season.
Inside Venture X’s office space, our “What are you thankful for” board is filling up with comforting things that members are grateful for and it’s becoming obvious why we have so many happy faces around us. For some it’s family, for others it’s yoga, but wherever you draw inspiration and gratefulness from, don’t let it go and don’t take it for granted.
Gratitude can bolster innovation, widening the lens to see opportunities and resources around us. It’s no wonder Venture X tends to draw happy and creative individuals – it’s a culture that’s developed on its own, strengthened by an ethos of playfulness and professionalism which have been seamlessly married within our workspace. A casual conversation with your coworker while grabbing coffee could help shed some light on an issue you just couldn’t get past. Asking your desk neighbor for a sticky note may present you with an opportunity to repay that kindness and forge a bond that lasts a lifetime.
We are thankful for the opportunity to work alongside some extremely talented, driven and friendly people. Venture X is not just a place to work, it’s a place to expand your horizons professionally as well as personally. The best way to take advantage of that is to recognize what you’re thankful for and remind yourself as often as possible. Maybe stop by the beach after work to watch the sunset, make an anonymous donation or start a journal to chronicle each and every event in your day that you have to be thankful for. After all, gratitude leads to happiness and that’s something we can all use more of these days.
