LODO - A Day in The Life

April 16, 2023

The need to be physically present at work reduced significantly in recent years as many people comfortably adapted to working from their homes, yet still managed to achieve the same level of productivity as they did in the office. While some eagerly awaited the opportunity to return to their workplaces, others embraced the new trend of coworking spaces.

Coworking spaces, like Venture X, are a fresh alternative that provide high-end office amenities and a comfortable, luxurious, atmosphere. Many individuals have opted for this option over working from home or in traditional offices, as it allows them to interact and socialize with other professionals from diverse industries while working seamlessly on their own tasks.

One of our most popular Venture X coworking locations resides in the vibrant LoDo neighborhood of Downtown Denver, Colorado (also known as Lower Downtown), which has a rich and storied history that dates back to the city's founding.

Here Are Just a Few Key Historical Milestones of The Neighborhood

  • 1858: Gold was discovered in Colorado, leading to a boom in population and commerce. The city of Denver was founded as a mining town that same year.
  • 1880s-1890s: The arrival of the railroad and the construction of Union Station in 1881 made LoDo a major transportation hub. The area became a center of commerce, with many businesses and hotels catering to travelers and traders.
  • 1900s-1920s: LoDo continued to thrive as a commercial and industrial center, with many new buildings and businesses opening. However, the area began to decline in the 1930s as the city's population shifted to the suburbs and the Great Depression took hold.
  • 1960s-1970s: LoDo became known for its abandoned warehouses and dilapidated buildings, attracting artists and countercultural types who began to transform the area into a bohemian enclave. This period saw the establishment of many art galleries, studios, and other creative spaces.
  • 1980s-1990s: LoDo underwent a major revitalization in the 1980s and 1990s, as developers and investors recognized the area's potential as a cultural and commercial hub. Many of the historic buildings were restored and repurposed as restaurants, bars, shops, and offices.

Today, LoDo is one of the most dynamic and popular neighborhoods in Denver, known for its lively nightlife, arts scene, and historic architecture.

If you've not yet visited Denver's LoDo neighborhood, we wanted to help paint a picture of what it's like to be engulfed in the bustling downtown scene on any given day.

Below, enjoy a day-in-the-life of a VentureX coworking space member at our LoDo location on the 3rd floor of the Dairy Block.
