Tell us a little about So Behold This Imaging.
From the first moment my grandfather placed a Sony Cybershot in my hands at age 13, I knew the magic of capturing life's most profound and intimate moments was meant for me. Now, after nearly 24 years behind the lens, what began as a childhood hobby has become everything to me. My commitment to you as your photographer is to apply my skill, creative mind, and decades of experience to your occasion so you have fantastic, tangible memories to look back on years from now. I have made it my goal to become proficient across a wide range of photographic/editing styles in order to better serve the needs and preferences of each individual client.
Hopefully, by now, you’re intrigued. I should mention that laughter and joking while I work are absolute musts, because when everyone’s comfortable and at ease, I do my best work. Prepare to meet the most hilarious photographer you’ve never heard of.
What led you to start So Behold This Imaging?
Once I had a camera in my hand, I decided to never put it down. Not many people are able to chase their dream like this and do what they truly love as a career, so I consider myself profoundly fortunate.
What sets your business apart from your competitors?
Passion. I make certain that my love for capturing intimate moments shows through in ALL my work, not just weddings or portraits. I want every image to tell its own story—to evoke emotion and thought.
What is something you wish you’d known when you were just starting your business?
I wish someone had told me how rapidly technology becomes obsolete; whether its film going digital, digital going mirrorless, or AI coming along and suddenly entirely changing the game, its tough to keep up!
How do you navigate your work-life balance?
Owning my own business demands that time management be efficient and organized since I am solely responsible for the length of my workdays. I make sure that I set appropriate goals for myself so I know when to take breaks or end my work for the day to get home to my kids.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing a photo I’ve captured hanging in someone’s home. Or seeing someone cry with happiness after seeing their wedding photos.
How has being a part of the Venture X Holyoke community affected you and your business?
Having a place like Venture X where I can come into a private office and get my work done - rather than a busy coffee shop or a noisy house with kiddo’s running around—allows me to set and meet goals for my day/week that allow me to be able to spend more time at home.
If you had a friend in town and you could take them to one of your favorite restaurants or spots in your community, where would you take them?
This is a split decision for me – either Woodstone Tavern in Holyoke, or Union Street Bistro in Easthampton. Both are *chef’s kiss*.
