Summer in Denver North

August 21, 2023

Some travel experts might even argue that a bustling metropolis like New York or Los Angeles can’t compete with a sunny, dry July in Colorado. Colorado visitors rave about the city's cool and comfortable summer nights and vibrant pink, red, and orange sunsets that set a fire over the Rocky Mountains.

But as residents of this beautiful city, it can sometimes be hard to unplug after a long day at work and remember to enjoy everything our beautiful state has to offer in the warm months.

As important as our careers are, here at Venture X Denver North, we believe it's equally important to enjoy life outside of the office. Not only should you be passionate about the work you do each day, but you should be even more passionate about the life you live outside of the office.

This is why we've compiled a list of the top X things to do in Denver North after work in the summer, all within walking distance of the Venture X office.

Whether you're looking for great food and drinks, entertainment, or outdoor activities, Denver North has something for everyone.

Enjoy Local Food and Drinks

The city of Denver boasts a vibrant food and drink scene, with plenty of rooftop patios, outdoor dining options, and local breweries to explore. I mean, you can't think of Denver and NOT think of craft beer.

The Denver North neighborhood, in particular, is home to some of Denver's best restaurants and bars, with a diverse culinary scene that offers something from every corner of the earth.
Work & Class is a local favorite, offering an eclectic mix of Latin American and Southern cuisine while Spangalang Brewery is a must-visit for beer lovers. Many of these establishments offer happy hour specials, making it an affordable way to enjoy the local fare after a long day.

Stroll Through the RiNo Art District

The RiNo Art District, located just a few blocks from Venture X, is a hub of creativity and culture, boasting colorful murals, galleries, and studios. Take a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood to appreciate the street art or attend a First Friday event, which features open galleries, live music, and delicious food trucks.

We challenge you to be a tourist in your own city this month. Hop on Airbnb, head over to their experiences section, and sign up for one of the highly recommended street art tours in the district.

Play Outdoor Games

Curtis Park and the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library are just a hop, skip, and jump away from Venture X Denver North. They offer a great space to play outdoor games like frisbee or soccer. Grab a colleague and enjoy the beautiful summer weather.

Catch a Rockies Game

Denver is home to several professional sports teams, including the Colorado Rockies, who play at Coors Field, which is just a ten-minute walk from Venture X Denver North (and just a two-minute walk from Venture X LoDo). Coors Field is known for its purple chairs in the stadium, showing fans exactly where 1 mile above sea level lies. If baseball isn't your favorite pastime, but still want to attend to socialize, we recommended heading up to The Jack Daniels Terrace at the stadium. Located on the upper Rooftop level, the rooftop bar offers a center-field view of the game, a fantastic view of the Rocky Mountains, and an excellent space to socialize with friends.

Attend a Festival or Event

Denver's Denver North neighborhood has a rich and diverse cultural history. It was originally settled in the late 1800s by European immigrants and later became a hub for African American culture during the 20th century. The neighborhood was home to many jazz clubs, dance halls, and other cultural institutions, which attracted famous musicians like Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald. This vibrant cultural scene earned Five Points the nickname "Harlem of the West."

Denver North celebrates this rich culture by hosting several festivals and events during the summer, including the Juneteenth Music Festival and the Denver North Jazz Festival,These events offer an opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich, local culture and community.

Relax and Unwind

Although summer months bring fresh energy and most of us are eager to get out of the house after a stormy, snowy winter, sometimes you just need to relax and unwind after a hectic workday. Five Points offers several options to help you take the edge off your after a tough day. Some of our members stop by The River Yoga  to attend an evening yoga session.
