Our team took some time to get to know Aditya and his role at Sophos Marketing.
What does Sophos Marketing do?
Sophos Marketing is disrupting digital advertising by making it affordable for businesses of all sizes to advertise on relevant websites with display ads.
We asked Aditya some Q & As to get to know him a little better and learn about the journey he’s been on, career-wise. Here’s what he had to say:
- What made you want to get involved in this line of work?
I started my career at PepsiCo and worked on big brands like Lays, Cheetos, Tostitos, and Cracker Jack. I left for a small business and this was the first time I had to market without the resources of a Fortune 50 company. So, I founded Sophos Marketing with a mission to make World Class Marketing accessible to everyone.
- What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Hearing stories from small business owners about how their business growth accelerated, in part, from our services. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing our clients succeed in their ventures.
- What’s the biggest challenge that you have faced in business and how did you overcome it?
Getting the business started was challenging. Honing in on the minimally viable product, getting those first few customers, and making sure they were happy were all unique challenges. It took almost two years before we started scaling up and they were two very difficult years.
- What business tips would you like to share with others?
Be confident in what you’re doing, but listen for what your prospects and customers are really feeling (and maybe not saying directly). In today’s age, every business has to constantly evolve to changing needs, and listening is the only way to achieve this.
- What has been your favorite part about working at Venture X?
We have been working at Venture X for nine months, and it’s been the ideal place for us for multiple reasons. First, the location is perfect for us personally and professionally. Second, the upscale design and premium feel is a place we have been proud to bring sales prospects and clients to, and they all have been impressed. Third, the floor to ceiling windows allow us to see natural light from nearly anywhere, which helps keep us energized. And finally, the networking has been phenomenal. The owners of Venture X Plano – Legacy West have become a true partner for us and have helped us with our business in many ways. From adapting to our needs to inviting us into their network, the impact on our business has been incredible.
A Personal Look at Aditya Varanasi
Aditya openly shared that this journey has brought him closer to his faith, friends, and family. He elaborated, “Seeing the outpouring of love and support from so many people who wanted to help us succeed was a great inspiration, and when my wife became involved in the business, it was inspiring to see her passion for what we’re doing.”
In his spare time, Aditya enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, fixing things around the house, watching Purdue University sports, and when time permits, playing some sports himself. He’s a big Purdue sports fan because as a student at the university, he played the violin in the orchestra – although, he admits he wasn’t very good. You can’t be great at everything, or can you?
