Michael Ostrow, Founder of Massive Pockets, joined Venture X Denver South recently and has found Venture X works really well for him.
What does Massive Pockets do?
Simply, Massive Pockets is an advertising agency with a focus on running incredible Facebook ads for a variety of businesses.
We asked Michael some questions in order to learn a little more about him and the career journey he’s been on. Here’s what he had to say:
What made you want to get involved in this line of work?
I was a sales guy at corporate jobs, moving up on the corporate ladder. I decided to get out of the corporate world and go do sales at a startup marketing firm. From there, I learned all the ins and outs of the company and was able to help them grow over 300% in 10 months. During that time, I was studying new age advertising (all the digital stuff that isn’t taught in college). I became fascinated with learning the psychology behind advertisements and marketing. I started Massive Pockets on February 1, , 2018, and it’s been a wonderful journey ever since.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The entrepreneurial world is amazing! I get to study and chat about business, sales, marketing, and psychology all day long, every day! It’s amazing that I get to spend my entire day doing something I care about, it leaves me feeling fulfilled.
What’s the biggest challenge that you have faced in business and how did you overcome it?
My first year of business had major ups and major downs. I learned quickly that sales need to be going on all the time. I would end up getting a lot of clients at once and spend all my time doing fulfillment, which would lead to my sales pipeline going dry. Now I have my days segmented to include sales and client fulfillment.
What business tips would you like to share with others?
Make friends who are going through the same thing you are. Having a friend who’s in the same boat as you (and is positive about it) can vastly improve your happiness and productivity.
What has been your favorite part about working at Venture X?
I am extremely happy to be out of my home and working in an office! Especially one with an active environment like Venture X. I have worked here for a little over a month now and I have seen a massive improvement in my productivity . . . that’s aside from the times I am chatting with a neighbor in the community space, exercising in the building’s gym, or chugging coffee.
A Personal Look at Michael Ostrow
Michael is always smiling and chatting away with someone; he even says, “chatting with Michael Ostrow may cause a serious case of laughter . . . or boredom if you don’t enjoy dry humor.” In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, reading personal development books, volunteering in local entrepreneurial communities, running his own entrepreneurial events, and playing video games.
Michael went on to tell us that learning new information each and every day keeps him motivated and inspired. He shared that he started listening to audiobooks last year which vastly improved the amount of information he could retain; “last year I read 28 books, which is more books in one year than I read in my entire life.” We found it impressive that he managed to do that and we found it inspiring that something we rarely make time for can have such an impact in one’s life.
